This past Monday, we shared a truly special event that we had the opportunity to be a part of. As we mentioned, the ceremony is the most important part of a Bat Mitzvah, but the entire day should be filled with family and close friends. Following Lily’s Bat Mitzvah luncheon, her family decided to continue the party. They stuck with the same vintage overall theme but threw in a fun twist … a casual raceway environment!

MB2 Raceway was the perfect choice for Lily’s reception (for the kids and kids at heart). A change in wardrobe was definitely in order for this change in venue. Lily loves her Lulus!

This family definitely knows how to let loose! Karen of Karen Ard Photography did such a great job with their photo shoot. These photos are sure to be favorites for a very long time!

Many decorative items (including this chalkboard sign) were transported from the luncheon space to the reception. Each item was used in a new way to enhance the look of the space. This sign was a way for guests to locate the VIP room that was reserved for Lily and her friends.

A rectangular table was set up right outside the VIP door to allow guests another opportunity to “leave a note for Lily” and leave a gift as well. We reused floral arrangements made by Kayla of House of Magnolias in this space to set a softer tone.

Each table inside the VIP room was finished off with full centerpieces as well, a burlap table runner with a raceway feel …

… and we found many unexpected places to include the rest of the floral arrangements which reminded guests that this was a special occasion.

You can’t have a party at a raceway without the race cars themselves. This, of course, was the main event of the night. Guests loved getting the opportunity to compete and some took this very seriously … not naming names!

When off the track, there were many other activities to keep the kids busy …

… and lots of food too! Mini silver pails were the perfect thing for holding snacks, and what kid doesn’t enjoy pizza delivery?

It definitely isn’t a party without at least one cake, and this party had two!

The professionals at Mr. Hoodbrush provided airbrush tatoos for Lily and all her friends.

A photo booth was set up with lots of props and a few Polaroid cameras for the guests to enjoy. We moved the “Lily” marquee letters from her luncheon to add  to the awesome backdrop, and the chicken wire frame used previously to hold seating cards was the perfect place to keep mini Polaroid photos. These will later be used in the decor in Lily’s newly remodeled room.

The finishing touch … a multicolored vintage inspired candy and soda bar!

On their way out, each guest was encouraged to fill a bag with gummy and sugary treats! We love the way the vintage crates look within the candy set up as well as the use of custom paper bags. We purchased washi tape to match the multicolored sweets … another small but fun detail.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about this special featured event. We truly enjoyed every aspect of working Side by Side with this amazing family from pulling inspiration photos, to creating handmade place cards and table numbers, to setting each decorative item in its exact right spot. We can’t wait to share one more follow up post with all of you when Lily’s room is finally ready to be revealed … stay tuned!
