When my brother and now sister-in-law asked me to help with their surprise wedding, I was more than happy to offer my services! Matt and Tshering had very few requests and were very easygoing about the whole thing. They were mostly looking for a small, intimate way to celebrate this milestone and thought it would be fun to surprise the groom’s parents (my in-laws) for their anniversary. I thought it would be fun to help them create some special details to remember it by.

The couple had some time with their photographer, Dewey Tann, before the festivities started for a little reveal and photo opportunity. The wedding took place on the grounds of Terranea which was a gorgeous backdrop for this beautiful Bride and Groom.

Here are the Groom’s parents learning about their surprise … Or what they thought was a surprise anniversary party for them!

What they didn’t know was that the Bride and Groom were waiting down below and ready to start the ceremony that was scheduled to take place.

We gathered our stuff and met this happy couple down below to walk to the ceremony space.

This gorgeous bridal bouquet, boutonnière, and all of the flower arrangements were created by Kayla at Gathered! She even snuck in the anemones that she told me were not in season because she is that amazing!

Matt and Tshering were very lucky to have one of his best friends officiate the ceremony. Nick did such an awesome job, included lots of personal details, and kept the mood light.

The couple wrote their own vows and definitely included things to make each other laugh.

My little ones were honored to be asked to hold onto the rings. It was nice of Matt and Tshering to find jobs to make each of my girls feel special!

The couple bought these gorgeous little boxes to keep their rings safe and to give Cara and Sienna something to hold onto.

We took a moment after the ceremony to cheers the Bride and Groom before heading back to our room for a little post-wedding cocktail hour.

This gorgeous food display was created by my sister-in-law Darci @dar.cuterie. I love how thoughtful she was placing each snack spaced apart to allow for as little contact as possible.

She even added in some fun sweet treats in different shades of pink to go with the color scheme and overall look of the event.

Darci and I were a great team in making sure that some fun details were planned. I created these name cards to let each person know which table they would be sitting at our dinner after, and Darci got these fun Sugarfina favors to give each person something to take home.

Of course, I couldn’t help but gift Matt and Tshering with a little box of their very own! Along with their florals, I included Mr. and Mrs champagne flutes (that you saw earlier they used at their ceremony), a bottle of Moet, and some fun cocktail napkins that went with the overall look of the party.

Last but not least, this gorgeous cake was made by Ashlee of cream + sugar with florals by Gathered. It tasted just as delicious as it looked!

Side by Side Design is excited to be planning micro-weddings and elopements with Gathered while the Safer at Home Measures are still in place. We can create an in a BOX to help make your micro-wedding special or help to plan the entire event bringing in florals, photography, a cake, and catering from our preferred vendor list.
