We are so excited to once again share our monthly inspiration with all of you! Each month, we look forward to getting the chance to sit down and really think about what’s inspiring us, make predictions for the month ahead, and reflect on the past month. As usual, we have each selected a photo that represents our overall inspiration and have paired it with two interior shots and two events that coordinate with its color scheme and overall concept. In addition, we have provided you with our designer tips to keep you on trend for the month ahead.

Tami’s inspired: I don’t know how it’s possible to be this busy every month, but this October is seriously jam packed full of plans for me and my family! A wedding, many get togethers with friends, a baby shower, an art show, a 30th birthday party, Halloween, and more! Just listing it all makes me tired … LOL! These photos all have some things in common (with each other and with the overall theme of my month). They are a bit busy but full of culture and custom. As I mentioned, I will be attending a wedding for friends who we missed their original ceremony in India. This board is inspired by this particular party and the culture behind it, but also this time of year dressing up is customary.

What’s my designer tip this month? Fill your space with culture and tradition! If you look closely in these photos, you will notice that there is a wide array of different cultures being represented in the decor. Somehow they mesh together in such a way that you almost don’t even notice it is even happening. Find ways to incorporate your own traditions and those you admire and your space will always feel well traveled, eclectic, and full of culture.

Lauren’s inspired: I am currently at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Oahu and loving every minute of it! This iconic hotel reminds me a bit of Beverly Hills and has an amazing timeless quality about it. This trip was much needed as Scott and I didn’t make any time this summer to get away just the two of us. We were both feeling the need to refresh and give ourselves that restart we both have been longing for. I know that when I return, the month is chalk full of events, work, and other duties, but for now I am going to enjoy my time and be in the moment.

What’s my designer tip this month? A classic design will stand the test of time! I am always drawn to this motto and know that good design is appreciated for many many years … Even a pink hotel! None of these photos are particularly on trend for what we are seeing this season, but I would stand to say they still look super current and will be appreciated for years to come.

Here at Side by Side Design, we look forward to an exciting month including all the details from our first event we planned for the fall, a look at Lauren’s finished front yard, spooky decor and more!
