This post, in particular, is HUGE for us. As you all know, Lauren is an Interior Designer who works on high end homes. However, it has somehow been very difficult for us (since the start of our business) to showcase her work on our blog. We have been very fortunate to have several great projects in the works, but they always seem to be “not finished” or “not photographed” quite yet. As we take so much pride in our work, it is very hard for us to show a space that is not complete. With that said, we are so excited to finally show you our first finished space! This glamorous Tuscan powder bathroom is quite a jewel box and belongs to a very special couple. We appreciate their trust in Side by Side Design as they were the first to really take us in. Every detail was thoroughly thought out and the outcome is one that we are very proud of.

This small, standard bathroom lacked luster and definitely didn’t fit in with the overall look of this gorgeous Tuscan home. We knew when remodeling it we would need to come up with a design that was special, detailed, over the top, and with lots of “oomph” (as the owner would say). These particular clients have a fine attention to detail which is something we love so much about them.
As you can tell, almost nothing stayed the same. Even the walls entering the bathroom, the door, and the door frame were faux finished to make this tiny space extra special from the minute you walk in.
Our biggest hurdle in the space were the arched niches. This gorgeous hand painted wallpaper was selected for the remainder of the walls but was not able to be used in the top of the arch itself. Once the wallpaper was up, it was clear that we needed to do something special to the niches to make the room feel cohesive and have that “jewel box” feel. Our fabulous faux painter created a design to mimic the wallpaper and did an amazing job in executing it.
The moldings in the room were painted an antique gold finish, and an additional tiny molding was added to the corners of the room to create a finished edge for the wallpaper.
We knew this room needed more than just any ordinary sink and faucet. This gorgeous hammered copper vessel sink was selected along with the wall mounted waterfall faucet, and we think they look stunning.
Every last accessory (including this gorgeous carved mirror and antique inspired sconces) were hand selected with much care. In fact, this powder bathroom took some time to get just right.
This couple takes great pride in their art collection and hand selected this piece for its coloring and subject matter. It was the perfect finishing touch.
Here at Side by Side Design, we pride ourselves in creating spaces that fit the needs and aesthetics of each individual client. We love the challenges that each space and new design project brings and enjoy making an inspiration come to life. Even the tiniest of rooms (like this one), when done right, can turn out amazing. It is all about the attention to detail, using the finest of materials (while knowing when to splurge and when to save), and knowing your client’s taste and needs.
