Just a few short weeks ago, Lauren’s little girl turned two. Every birthday in a small child’s life is a big one, and Lauren knew that this would be the first of many that Ava would really be able to remember and enjoy. However, Lauren also knew that this may be the last one that she gets to call all the shots on … a three year old has many more opinions than they do at age two, and Ava has already proven to be a girl who likes to do things her own way. So Lauren set out to plan a party for her daughter that represents many of the things that she loves including ice cream, swimming, and the color lavender.

The grass area at Lauren and Scott’s complex was the perfect location to host this Summer-y event. There was enough space for guests to spread out and even to include water play activities. Upon their arrival, family and friends could take photos next to Ava’s over-sized golden two that had a DIY fringed attachment.

Three large tents were set up to provide shade and create a nice clean look for this otherwise open space. Ava loves balloons (What kid doesn’t?), and so many were included in this space as well. Again, we stuck with white to keep things crisp. We rented a low to the ground table with mini folding chairs for the kids to eat in style. We also got bright yellow linens from our friends at Signature Party Rentals to create pops of color in this space.

A beautiful lavender and white linen table runner completed the kid’s table nicely. We set it to perfection with lavender and white paper goods, bright yellow coasters, and napkin and twine wrapped silverware.

Each setting also included a lavender mason jar sippy cup with a handmade thank you tag for each of Ava’s friends to take home. One of the birthday girl’s favorite things to do is to say “cheers” when getting ready to drink something (Don’t get excited … we are talking about water or milk!) and to clink glasses with her mom and dad. So we included this favorite saying of hers in gold paint pen on each take home mason jar gift.

We set up a special seat at the table just for Ava. This “A” was made by Lauren for her daughter’s nursery when she was born. Doesn’t it match the party perfectly? Ava’s matching towel sat on her seat too, ready for her to get out of the kiddie pool.

The adult table was finished off with this simple centerpiece in the party’s colors.

A large bounce house with a water slide from Magic Jump Rentals was set up in the back for the kids to enjoy! Ava loved swimming and splashing with her friends in her adorable yellow and white striped bathing suit from Janie and Jack.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Pinkberry! We created this framed sign to announce the main event … Pinkberry yogurt cups complete with toppings for both the adults and the kids. On a hot day, what could be better?

Other snacks were provided as well as a beautiful custom ice cream cone cake.

Ava hasn’t quite gotten the hang of blowing out her own birthday candles, but she sure knows how to put down an entire piece of cake! The frosting was absolutely delicious!

Other party favors included beach pails with shovels and ice cream scoops to go along with the Summer theme. All items were presented to perfection with more handmade tags, cellophane wrap, and yellow twine. We had so much fun creating this sand castle effect to inspire guests to create one of their own when these pails accompany them on their next beach trip.

Ava had so much fun swimming, eating, and playing with her friends. What more can a mommy ask for? Well, we guess as a designer Lauren could also ask for the event details to come out as planned. Thumbs up on both! We look forward to planning many more birthday parties for Ava in the future, and can’t wait to see what kinds of challenges this opinionated little girl throws our way when she’s able to pick her own party theme. We love you Ava! Happy 2nd birthday … and many many more!
