We are really excited to announce that Side by Side Design is adding gorgeous custom pieces of art into so many client’s homes. I know we have talked about this before (as seen in our previous post, Art by Angel), but I feel like we have finally perfected the process, and couldn’t be more excited! We are now starting to sell even more of these custom pieces, and have decided to share this process with all of you because we are so proud of the work we are doing, and we know you will want to get in on the fun!

Here’s how it works …

Step 1: You find a custom piece you are obsessed with on any inspiration site of your choice (or hire us to do it for you!).

Step 2: We meet with you and our artist to discuss your inspiration, measure for the correct size, and come up with a color story that fits your home (We’ll help you with that part too!).

Step 3: We meet a second time to see the sample board our artist has created and make any tweaks or changes needed at this time.

Step 4: She creates your art, and you get to see for final approval. Trust me, you will love it … but if there is anything you want to change, it’s still ok to do so.

Step 5: We take your finished work to the framer and send you frame options to choose from. When it’s all done and ready to go, we will even deliver it to your home!

My new house was in much need of some awesome art for my walls, so even I got in on the action. Here are some photos of my finished pieces. To say I am obsessed is an understatement! Angel is so talented! In case you are wondering what this service costs … It depends on the size but it ranges from about $800 – $1,500 including the framing (I know, super affordable right?). For more information on our custom art services, contact us at info@sbsdesignla.com.

We have mentioned a bit here and there that we are planning a pretty spectacular Bat Mitzvah weekend next year for a really special girl (Check out our monthly “Favorite Five” post to catch up on our planning updates). So as that event is about a year away, it makes sense that the Bat Mitzvah girl is currently turning 12! We wanted to plan a special party at home for her to not take away from next year’s festivities but make sure she knows that every year is one to be celebrated. Here are the details …

It is official … S.A. is 12! This letter number combo became our logo for this event and was seen all throughout the decor. The birthday girl kept it intimate inviting nine other girls to celebrate with her, and they started and ended the festivities at home. So as not to spoil the dinner they had planned, we provided fruit as a snack, and each girl got a special gift to take home of fun bath accessories.

When they left for their dinner out, we transformed their game room and home theater area into a party any 12 year old would love!

I mean, what kid (or adult for that matter) can pass up a traditional movie theater candy display? We included all candies found at your local movies, popcorn, and a new treat … Five different flavors of cookie corn from Cookie Good in Santa Monica!

Do these balloons look familiar? Shout out to our girls at Bojour Fete for not only getting us the best metallic balloons but somehow fitting them into a very tightly packed car!

Gotta love all the rose gold touches found in our fun assortment of paper goods!

These food label cards and custom stickers with our SA12 logo were created by Bo Jack Studios. Aren’t they awesome? …

… but the most fun detail award goes to these pajama onesies! These Penelope Wildberry tye dye onesies from Frankie’s on the Park are beyond soft and snuggly, but we didn’t stop there! We took them to our friend Rachel Miriam to be personalized to perfection! This gift was a great way for each of the girls to get in the spirit of the party and have an awesome keepsake to take home.

Here’s a look at what our mocktail bar had to offer. Mr. Bartender killed it with these sweet / non-alcoholic drink options offering edible orchids, pink sugar rims, and rock candy stirs in the party’s color scheme.

Even a party this sweets heavy isn’t a party without a cake! Gotta love Susie Cakes!

When the girls returned from dinner, they were not only surprised to see the transformation indoors, but we also made the outside party ready by turning on the firepit, jacuzzi jets, and floating super cute LED orbs in their pool.

The girls went for a night swim …

… and got into their onesies to watch one of our favorite 90’s movies … Clueless!

Happy 12th Birthday to a very special girl from Side by Side Design! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day and surprise you with so many details!

Each event we have planned lately has been absolutely unique and for clients we truly are so lucky to have found. We wouldn’t have it any other way! We thrive off of coming up with new concepts and planning each detail to make the event truly one of a kind. This particular at-home party we helped plan a few weeks ago, was for a very special couple. Their daughters got together to prepare a celebration of fifty years together that fit their parent’s personalities and relationship just right.

The first thing they requested was to have a relaxed evening where guests could come and mingle and celebrate their parent’s marriage. We set up a small cocktail hour with a delicious spread of cheeses, meats, and other fun mediterranean inspired snacks. The bar was stocked and our hostess’ husband took his job as bartender very seriously!

Gold metallic balloons and fun fifties on sticks announced the special anniversary they were celebrating.

It’s always fun to have photos at these types of events to throw back to that special day. This sign in board will be a nice keepsake as well!

Photos on each of the tables also showcased special moments from their wedding day.

Table and chair rentals from Signature Party Rentals gave ample space for all guests to find a seat. We went for a garden look with these wood chairs meets a more formal setting with all black linens.

These flower arrangements created by Mulberry Row were stunning! We love the contrast of the all white flowers and greenery on the black tablecloths as well as the garden look they each have.

One more formal touch … Gold chargers for a golden anniversary!

Persian meats were set up buffet style as well as so many delicious salads and sides catered by Red Fish Kitchen. We plated each to perfection in matching white dishes! What a spread!

As each guest brought their dinner to their seat, they were greeted by a glass of champagne. A special toast was made and several speeches sharing so much love for this couple and their fifty years together.

For dessert, the hostesses went all out! A chocolate fountain with all kinds of fruit and other dipping treats were a huge hit so was this magnificent cake made by our girl Ashlee at cream+sugar!

As a take home special treat, Ashlee also created gold fifty shaped cookies with custom stickers. Wrapped to perfection and so yummy too!

We are so grateful to have been a part of this special occasion! Shout out to Michelle and Tara for being so fun to plan Side by Side with and a very Happy Anniversary to their parents, Bernie and Jerry!

Here at Side by Side Design, there is nothing we love more than working closely with a family to meet all of their design needs, and this major life event I am sharing today is another beautiful representation of what we are all about! As Lauren has been working on the design of this family’s home for the last few years, I was very honored to be asked to work with them to make their son’s Bar Mitzvah vision come to life. Not to mention, I got to spend time really getting to know this awesome family! The process for planning such a special day takes a lot of hard work, patience, and creativity. I love that Spencer (the Bar Mitzvah boy), his parents, and I really each got to take turns coming up with ideas and seeing them through but also worked closely together as a team (along with a bunch of spectacular vendors who each brought something very special to this day). Each detail from this “Block Party Bar Mitzvah” represents Spencer and his family’s love for food and a fun atmosphere. Enjoy!

Congratulations Spencer on becoming a Bar Mitzvah! We couldn’t have been more happy to be a part of your special day!

As I mentioned, this family is extra special … and super photogenic too! Shout out to Shutterdee for taking these stunning shots of Spencer and his family to help them always remember this day!

Personalized programs and custom kippot in a classic color were placed just outside the sanctuary door for guests to take and enjoy as they entered.

Spencer’s parents beamed with pride as he read from the Torah on the evening of his Bar Mitzvah. I know they are beyond happy to be passing on the traditions to their eldest son and look forward to doing the same in a few years for his twin brothers Theo and Noah.

This welcome table was set up to do just that … Welcome guests to Spencer’s Bar Mitzvah Block Party! We decorated the table with a few festive touches including a handmade chalkboard sign and included some information for Spencer’s mitzvah project. What a great idea to collect board games for kids in need!

A custom seating chart created by Bojack Studios allowed each guest to find their spot within the room. The colors make this chart so much fun …

… and brought an amazing amount of life to this room as well! These balloon arrangements from Elegant Balloons are everything, and I absolutely love the way the bright colored napkins from Signature Party Rentals pop on the otherwise white backdrop of each table.

I have to say, though, my favorite detail of the entire event (and what gives this indoor space the most outdoor / block party feel) are the strung bistro lights. So cool!

These chalkboard table numbers and mini food trucks are are my favorites in the small detail department. I am allowed to have more than one favorite, right?

The fun feel of this event was not just found in the decor … Can you believe Spencer was announced at his party this way? What an entrance!

When planning this party, Spencer’s parents and I thought it would be fun to have appetizers already set at tables when the guests entered the room (rather than tray passed or all set at one buffet table). This gave guests an opportunity to mingle with others at their table and gave the party a very relaxed “at home” type feel. The appetizers themselves were casual but displayed in a more classy way. You really can’t go wrong with crudite, dips, and pretzel bites with cheese!

The other thing we decided really early on was that we wanted to give this party an open, casual, do what makes you happy type feel. We brought in arcade games and foosball from Arcade Rental Zone to give Spencer’s friends activity options.

I am pretty sure Spencer was most excited about this slot car race track brought in by Racing Party Events!

I am kinda obsessed with how this kid’s drink station turned out! The balloons, the dispensers filled with all things kids like to drink, the adorable food trucks with with mini chalkboards attached … I love it all!

As I mentioned, these bistro lights really made the food station area of this party extra special! The idea was to give guests the feel of walking up to a food truck with each station (diner, street tacos, and BBQ). You could just grab a small plate and try one thing at a time. So many good things to eat! Shout out to Gina Feeds and her entire staff! They really outdid themselves!

Like I said, there were a million options … Fish or short rib tacos!

Sliders and french fries …

… and the best brisket and mac n cheese I think I have ever had!

Dancing? This party had that too! Tru from H2H The Perfect Element kept the party going with his endless energy!

Every event should end with somethin’ sweet, and this party did not disappoint! This sweets station included cookies, brownies, fresh fruit, and lots of ice cream!

As I mentioned, the planning of this amazing event was a true collaboration. Spencer’s parents and I worked together to make this day extra special for the Bar Mitzvah boy. They were such a dream to work with! I especially could not have pulled all of this off without my Side by Side Design team and all of the amazing vendors we had the opportunity to work with! Thank you also to Shutterdee for capturing every detail!
