It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This birthday “celebration”! It’s no secret that events and the way we celebrate look a little different these days. This particular birthday was no exception. With LA County’s “Safer at Home” going back into effect, our clients have decided to celebrate in a really safe way. We decorated this birthday girl’s home with loads of balloons, a BOX of goodies, and even brought in the most amazing cake from Sweet and Saucy Shop. If you’re looking to add a little joy to a special day let us know! (Written by: Tami)

#2: This vibe! Now this is a dream inspiration board for me … and what’s even cooler is that I am in the process of bringing this room to life! I have been working on an amazing project for the last couple of months, have given a couple sneak peeks here and there into the construction and how that’s all coming along, and we are coming down to the wire now with finishing touches in the works daily. It’ll take a little longer until we are done and can really share some awesome finished pictures, but I just couldn’t wait to share something again! This is the inspiration for her main living room … and I’m obsessed! (Written by: Lauren)

#3: This baby BOX! We have been creating BOXes for many occasions, but  the orders keep coming in for new babies! We love bringing even more joy to these new parents (and to siblings of new babies as well). This particular baby BOX is one of my favorites we have created so far as it is filled with my favorite kind of print, and I love how monochromatic it turned out. Each item inside is truly unique. Check out our IG stories @sidebysidedesign to see more of what we are creating in a BOX! (Written by: Tami)

#4: This vendor! Every client has their priorities when it comes to fixtures in their home. When this particular client challenged me to find the perfect satin brass finish, I knew I didn’t want to disappoint. This amazing company from Italy had the most gorgeous fixtures that came in exactly the perfect finish. I knew my client would be in love! It’s hard to believe that they look even better installed than they did in the showroom … Stay tuned to see the rest of this magnificent bathroom and all of its Fantini fixtures. (Written by Lauren)

#5: This Thanksgiving collab! We love a great collaboration and especially love to see all of our planning become a reality! This Thanksgiving we worked with Darci of Darcuterie, and it was an absolute dream come true to see her gorgeous Darcuterie boards inside our BOXes! We can’t wait to work with this fabulous partner again soon! Check out our Holidays in a BOX highlight on IG to see what we are offering for the upcoming holidays!(Written by: Tami)

Today I am excited to share another special space from our Modern with Antiques home tour … the den. Hope you enjoy!

This couple wanted to have a cozy place in their home to unwind at the end of the day. I am calling this space a “den”, but it really has some of the fun elements of a theater seeing as the seats recline and black out draperies provide plenty of darkness.

We went with a monochromatic color scheme in this room but used different textures in each element, and I think it turned out pretty cool … Draperies in satin, a custom leather sofa from Italy 2000, and even a fur throw.

In keeping with this concept, we selected a charcoal color suede to use on the walls and to give this space a modern feel. For the inset ceiling, Angel created a special finish using silver leaf to give this room a glamorous touch. The last item we included was this awesome piece of art we found at Italy 2000. It was just too perfect not to.

This room has a little vestibule before entering its bathroom. We wanted to keep the overall feel and drama consistent and added in some of their awesome art and accessory collection for some unexpected touches.

For the bathroom, we installed black porcelain tile on the walls and floor and kept the shower glass as minimal as possible for a modern and dramatic look. We found this fun pedestal sink at Nina’s Kitchen and Bath which fit perfectly and installed a frameless mirror with a hidden medicine cabinet for a little extra storage. All the fixtures in this room are brass to make a fun statement against the black.

More to follow from this Modern With Antiques home tour.

We are so excited to once again share our monthly inspiration with all of you! Each month, we look forward to getting the chance to sit down and really think about what’s inspiring us, make predictions for the month ahead, and reflect on the past month. As usual, we have each selected a photo that represents our overall inspiration and have paired it with two interior shots and two events that coordinate with its color scheme and overall concept. In addition, we have provided you with our designer tips to keep you on trend for the month ahead.

Tami’s inspired: Is the expression “a piece of cake”? Why not “a piece of pie”? Well, this month is already proving to be anything but! Honestly, I am pushing myself personally and professionally completely out of my comfort zone in so many ways, but I know that with discomfort comes growth! Here’s the highlights … I am planning my first big events (but with small guest counts) since March, gearing up for our in a BOX line’s first holiday season, collaborating with some really amazing women entrepreneurs, and I joined a committee at my daughter’s preschool in an effort to make some connections (since Covid has us all still mostly home). This month will definitely not be easy, but I assume all of these things will create even more opportunities which I am beyond excited to explore!

What’s my designer tip this month? Let them eat pie! (Another saying I am pretty sure includes cake, but whatever!) It’s Thanksgiving and that means all things Fall; leaves, shades of brown, turkey and stuffing, and pie of course! Why have just one flavor when you can have an entire buffet? Make sure you savor each bite!

Lauren’s inspired: We’ve all now heard the expression “getting comfortable with being uncomfortable”. I am starting to really get used to this concept and even getting pretty comfortable with my new routine and way of life. I think this wishbone symbol was speaking to me because although we are in a state of unknown at the time with not knowing what will be, I am grateful for where I am, for what I have, and wishful and hopeful for the future.

What’s my designer tip this month? Have a little wishful thinking! If you are wishing for something, it is time to make it happen! Have you been wanting so badly to redo your bathroom? Make it a bit more modern or more you? Do it! Have you been dying for gold flatware? Take the plunge! We all wish for something in our lives big or small … Make it happen!

Here at Side by Side Design, we look forward to continuing to keep it real this month from our homes to yours … We have so many new construction and design projects that we can’t wait to show off, are full swing into the holiday season, and we have lots of BOXes, collections, and collaborations in the works! If you haven’t already checked out our “in a BOX” line (a custom gifting experience) … You should! Don’t forget to visit us for our next Get Inspired post on December 4th for all new looks and inspiration! Also, check out our Instastories @sidebysidedesign to see how we are spreading joy one BOX at a time!

We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Darcuterie (an awesome local business) on our in a BOX promotion this month! We have been playing around with including fresh items in our BOXes, but this takes it to the next level! Darcuterie‘s boards are gorgeous and use all of the best seasonal ingredients. After seeing what she had planned, we really wanted her contribution to each BOX option to be the star of the show, and we just added a few small festive touches (and wine, of course!) to finish each one off right! Keep reading to see how you can get your Bite, Taste, and Indulge orders in all month long!

Indulge: $150 – Ok, so we lied! This is not a BOX at all, but we just couldn’t help but offer Darcuterie‘s full size board of fall favorites (feeds 6-8 people). This is a great appetizer to order all month long or have delivered to enjoy before your Thanksgiving feast! It includes a little bit of something for everyone!

Taste: $150 – Here’s an awesome collab BOX for you to send to family or friends that maybe you don’t get to share Thanksgiving with this year … or KEEP FOR YOURSELF! This gorgeous Darcuterie board comes ready to enjoy (feeds 2-4 people) along with a bottle of red wine and festive plates and napkins.

Bite: $60 – Mini BOXes are great gifts to send out this Thanksgiving (and all month long)! I mean, isn’t this Darcuterie mini (serving for 1) adorable? Plus red wine in a can and festive napkins! You don’t get more classy than this! We do love a good cheeky saying! Give the gift that keeps giving this November … in a BOX!
