It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This ski home update! This month ur clients got to vacation in their Vail home for the first time! We got it ready to enjoy but still have some work to do, and I am loving all of the details (especially the incredible Phillip Jeffries wallpapers we have throughout). Don’t worry, we will un”vail” this project soon! (Written by: Lauren)

#2: This perfect place setting! One thing I love about my job is getting the chance to select small details that make a big impact! Something as easy as placing patterned napkins within an otherwise simple tablescape can give me so much joy … No joke! Here is an inspiration board Lauren and I put together for an upcoming event we are planning. I think you will love the finished look … Stay tuned! (Written by: Tami)

#3: This eclectic home! This new project we are working on starts construction next week, but we have already started working on the plans and design and they are going to be great! Be prepared for some fun unexpected colors and eclectic details. We will be sharing the process along the way. (Written by: Lauren)

#4: This vendor! A really fun event took place a few days ago in one of our client’s homes. I don’t want to spoil too many of the details as I will be writing a separate post all about this event and you will be able to see them there, but this delicious cinnamon dessert might give you a small hint! What I do want to mention were the awesome people who made these treats. Churro Boss … You did not disappoint! I loved my ice cream and dulce de leche covered churro to the very last bite! Yummy! (Written by: Tami)

#5: This fabulous fundraiser! So many awesome details are being planned for University Synagogue’s annual gala. The committee has been hard at work reaching out to potential sponsors, creating magical experiences for the opportunity drawing, and getting the word out so everyone can get in on the fun! We take our job on this committee very seriously and have been working to fine tune the menu, flower selections, and other details for the event itself. If you haven’t already, purchase your tickets for this awesome event on April 26th. (Written by: Lauren)

It’s crazy to think my little girls are already four years old! Where has the time gone? As Cara and Sienna’s birthday falls at the end of February, and the weather is super unpredictable, we usually plan an indoor party. I also knew when planning that it is easiest with all their preschool friends running around to go to a play place rather than host at home. This is what lead us to our decision to select My Gym as our party venue this year! The only thing left was to pick a theme … My girls wanted to do rainbows, so I quickly began planning small details that we could add to the space to personalize it just a bit!

Every rainbow party needs a rainbow balloon garland, right? I added pink and turquoise to the regular ROYGBIV in our color scheme to make sure to include Cara’s favorite color and a bit of a unique flair.

Yellow plates were lined down this otherwise white backdrop of a table and topped with napkins in every color of the rainbow. I hand wrapped each take home favor myself with super skinny rainbow ribbon and a cute printed tag! What did I include inside? Rainbow colored crayons, a small pad of paper, and stickers too!

Our party was catered by Fresh Brother’s. I love how even this Greek salad looked like a rainbow!

I created a fruit platter in the party’s colors with the same look. Isn’t it cute?

This incredible double cake was designed and created by Ashlee of cream+sugar! She insisted on them having two cakes … She must really get what it means to be a twin on their birthday!

Here’s my girls right before we sang Happy Birthday. I’d say they were happy with how the party turned out!

We were all surprised to find that Ashlee stuffed the inside of these cakes with layers of rainbow, frosting, and so many fun sprinkles! Not to mention, the huge marshmallow clouds she put on top. It tasted great too!

Party attire should always match the theme! Notice how the birthday girl’s skirts have a cute rainbow band on top and big sister had a rainbow dress to match. Love it!

Huge thanks to the fabulous staff at My Gym and everyone who helped me get all the final details together for this fun fourth birthday party! I couldn’t have done it without you! Happy Birthday to my sweet girls, Cara and Sienna! May this year be filled with love and lots of rainbows!

In our Pining For Pinterest posts, we prepare our readers for the upcoming season with interior shots alongside decor and event details in a fresh, new color story and overall look. Spring has sprung! The sun is out (off and on), the flowers are blooming, and dining outdoors is officially in season! It’s our favorite time of year! Please enjoy as we take you through our inspiration for two totally different concepts that stay true to the essence of the Side by Side Design model of Interior Design and Event Planning going hand in hand. These events, whether casual or over-the-top, are meant to take place where you feel most at home. Get it?

Tami’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? Mamas and macaroons! Therefore, throwing a party for all of your mama friends (with macaroons, of course) is your best idea yet! Have it at home or your fav local spot, get flowers galore, and give thanks to those who have the most thankless job around. Happy Mother’s Day to you and all your gals!

Not a bad place to lounge, while waiting for your guests to arrive!

Have everyone gather in your home …

… and quickly take a few cars full of mamas to this top secret location! Isn’t this table stunning? It is done just right with florals and custom menus for you and your gals. No wonder you chose this as the perfect lunch spot!

As a special gift, provide beautiful take home gifts such as these with each mama’s photo attached.

Wear perfect pastels!

Sip champagne …

… and enjoy every last bite!

Lauren’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? Taking a walk on the wild side! Bold patterns mixed with hot colors is all the rage right now, and I just love how you can still make this look classy when done right. We wanted to give you two completely different looks for Mother’s Day this year, and this one is for those wild mamas we all know and love!

I love the unexpected color story in this living room, and it totally leads to something fun when party planning.

I am obsessed!!!!! I mean, how can you not be?

A fun patterned umbrella makes you feel like you have left and gone somewhere tropical, and I just can’t with these decor elements. Simple yet done so right!

Even the bar menu is on theme!

The hostess with the mostest …

… and these pink margaritas in the perfect shade!

For dessert, I went with French macaroons too, but printed to fit my theme.

This Spring is beyond busy, and we truly feel like we have brought the events “Side” of our business to the next level. We look forward to all that is coming up this season and using some of this inspiration in our own planning. We would love to work with you in creating the right look this Spring by tying in the inspiration of your event with the essence of your home decor. I wouldn’t say that we are the most superstitious girls, but we do strongly believe that when you put something out there into the universe (and work hard to achieve it), the stars align and bring you what you ask for. Now don’t get me wrong … I am not saying that if my almost two year old put out into the universe that she wanted a pony or to get rid of her newborn sister (which I’m sure has crossed her mind at least a few times since we brought her home from the hospital) that she would get either of those things. Somehow the “universe” must know how hard you are working to make your dreams a reality and just gently pushes you in the right direction or guides you towards being in the right place at the right time.

I want to share a story … At New Years last year, we made a resolution. We were very happy that over the last few years so many Brides, Grooms, and Bar / Bat Mitzvah parents had trusted us to plan their biggest days, but we wanted to shift our attention back towards our original plan for our business … To plan at home events! Then, while working a Valentine’s Day event, we happened to be at the right place at the right time and struck up easy conversation with someone who would later become a true Side by Side Design client. Of course, as these things happen she first lost our contact information and had to track us down a few months later, but we quickly began planning our first event in her home.

A good theme goes a long way! In this case, rosè, was the perfect theme for a Mother’s Day celebration with friends. For this event, we included overflowing glasses of rosè (and a bucket full of bottles), cute rose gold foil napkins, and tons of flowers in every shade of pink all to go along with the theme.

It’s all about who you work with! We really believe this to be true, and over the last few years we have created a preferred vendor list that we are very proud of. This enables us to connect our clients with the top rentals, catering, florals, etc. that Los Angeles has to offer from companies that we trust and love. I also believe that Lauren’s background in Interior Design allows us to utilize spaces in the best way possible and when planning lots of events in the same space we are able to come up with fresh ideas each time using different areas of the home and in different ways.

Got kids? So do we, and we absolutely love planning parties for ours and others! It’s really all about the details! Whether they are turning two or twelve, they will appreciate every detail if you keep them in the forefront of your mind when you are planning. We set up this whole look ourselves, from the branded stickers on all packaging to the presentation of the salty and sweet treats that were included in this movie night themed birthday party. We truly pride ourselves in our attention to detail!

Do holidays stress you out? Don’t worry, you are not alone. I think most people are this way! However, setting tables beautifully for holiday celebrations and planning big seasonal soirees are our specialty! This past holiday season, we were given the gift of planning another gathering in the same client’s home and we brought in so many special details including catering from Jon and Vinny’s (one of our favorite local restaurants), seasonal decor, and take home bags full of fun swag for each of their guests.

One more fun service that we provide … Customizing take home gifts and gift wrap for all of your guests! Everybody loves to walk away from a party with a little something naughty or nice. We believe that the way a gift is presented or wrapped is just as important as what’s inside and can provide our clients with both. What a great reminder of the time spent at an event with family and friends.

What do all of these event photos have in common? They were all planned for the same client in her home. Our business model is to work with our clients to create events for anything and everything that comes up (and sometimes for no reason at all). We absolutely love coming up with new concepts, new ways of doing things, and new ideas, and the more that we work with each individual client the more we know their space (whether we designed it or not), and therefore can take the stress off them and make the whole process much more smooth. From the smallest of events, to holidays, gift wrap, and larger parties, we provide our clients with a service that is unmatched and the quality they are looking for.

This New Years our resolution is a bit different. We just spent the last year focused on further building the events “Side” of our business and specifically planning at home events, and this year we want to keep our focus where it is while adding even more events each month. As you can tell from all that we are posting lately, we are crazy busy and already have many events in the books for 2020, but putting this out into the universe once more … We do have some open spaces to fill! For more information and to book our events services contact us at info@sbsdesignla.com.
