It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: These rockin’ desserts! Aren’t these electric guitar shaped cookies absolutely adorable? I am also still trying to figure out how cream+sugar expertly created each one by hand? 100 total! The packaging for these Bar Mitzvah take home gifts was pure perfection too! Thank you Bo Jack Studios for bringing our vision to life and printing each custom sticker. I am so happy that this client reached out to have us help out with this and other details for the party as well as a complete dessert display in their home the night before! (Written by: Tami)

#2: This countdown! 10 months … and counting until the big Bat Mitzvah weekend we are planning! One vendor we have already booked and are beyond excited about is our fav floral expert Kayla of House of Magnolias. She will be with us all weekend pulling out all the stops for full floral installations in all areas of the weekend’s events. This pic may just be a sneak peek, but we have so much good stuff planned! (Written by: Tami)

#3: This ski home! As many of you know, we are working on finishing and putting all of the details together for our client’s ski home in Vail. Our first furniture order came from Restoration Hardware already and was just in time for the holidays. I am beyond honored to have been asked to work on this project and am loving seeing all the details come together. Stay tuned … So much still to come! (Written by: Lauren)

#4: These vendors! This past weekend, we had the opportunity to take our planner hats off for a second and take on the role of Day of Coordinators for a really awesome family. We love any chance to work with new vendors and see new ways of doing things, and this Bar Mitzvah did not at all disappoint! Each of these vendors should be recognized for the hard work and dedication they brought to their specific area of expertise. What a great team! Shout out to … Top Quality Party Rentals, Anthos Studios, Volare, Yooshi Sushi, photography by Firoozeh, DJ Nima, Loud Wild and Proud, Hibe Davidian Bartending Services, Abraham’s Valet, 3D Cheeze, Fredy’s Fruit Catering, Arcade Rental Zone, Flash Tattoos by Edna, and Sweet ‘n Hollow! (Written by: Tami)

#5: These gifts! As you can tell, this month was super event heavy! Just one more for the season on New Years Eve and I will relax a bit … I am having a baby after all! So many gifts have come our way this December … Events to plan and attend, more clients and projects than ever, and our gift wrap services being used to their true potential. We worked on six different looks to be exact. We are so thankful for all of this and can’t wait to see what 2020 brings! (Written by: Tami)

Follow us on Instagram @sidebysidedesign for more all month long as we share our Designer Day! We plan to share our “Favorite Five” for the month of January on the 31st, and as always will be posting what’s inspiring us for the month ahead (and the new year) on the first Friday. See ya soon!

In last year’s post, T Side / L Side: Holiday Wrapping, we invited you into our homes and continued to show you our own personal design styles. We each have our own “Side” or way of doing things, which makes us unique (even though we are twins). When we plan our gift wrap for the holidays and ways to decorate our spaces and make them festive, these distinct styles carry through. With Chanukkah and Christmas just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to give you some last minute ideas for how to wrap and decorate for the holidays. We especially always like to think outside the (gift) box when planning our gift wrap (and use colors, patterns, and textures that are unexpected and fun). Here is what we have come up with for our own Chanukkah wrapping this year. Feel free to use this as inspiration in planning your own holiday gift wrap as well.

T Side: My daughter Joie is starting to feel the holidays around her, and this year I just want to make it fun / lighthearted. Small pops of color and festive llamas in our decor should do the trick, right? If that isn’t enough, I’ll just throw in a strand of light up disco balls. I love the holidays!

Gift wrap is my thing, and what I love most of all is taking patterns and prints that make no sense together and combining them to create an overall look. I hit up my go to spot for gorgeous paper options (Paper Source), and totally fell in love with these llamas! What do they have to do with Chanukkah? No clue, but they sure feel festive!

Like I said … Unexpected patterns are so much fun! I kept my ribbon and gift tags simple in order to not take away from the paper itself.

Gotta love a good disco ball!

I am excited for Chanukkah to start and for our little family of three to celebrate together before we add one more (5 more weeks!). I know Joie has enjoyed seeing these decorations go up in our home, and next year will be big enough to really get in on the fun!

L Side: As you probably know, if you have been following us for any time now, Tami and I really really don’t like what is being offered for Chanukkah wrapping. I find myself at this time of year, scouring stores for something festive that doesn’t necessarily fit the mold for either holiday and this year came home with my first round of paper in black, gold, and white. I wanted to add in something fun, so when I went back to look again, I guess I was in a girly mood. I came back with different shades of pink and gold and can’t say I am mad about it. I kinda love this look and my girls do too!

A mix of fun patterns with a bit of a Kate Spade vibe and preppy Martha Stewart tags are just what I needed this year!

I tied each gift off with black ribbon (notice they are not so perfectly tied).

I wanted to add in at least a little nod to Chanukkah … I think the gelt does the trick!

The other thing my girls love this time of year is getting holiday cards. So many of our friends and family send them out. I put them on display to enjoy all season long!

As you can see, we each have our own style when it comes to wrapping and decorating for the holidays. In your own holiday decor, which “Side” do you relate to most? Leave us a comment below. Wishing all of our readers a wonderful holiday season from Side by Side Design!

I have mentioned a few times already this month how obsessed I am with gift wrap (especially during the holidays), so you probably won’t be surprised that today’s post is all about this service we provide our clients. In fact, we are naming this week on the blog “Gift Week” … What a gift it is to be able to give during the holidays! We are providing designer tips for creating a cohesive gift wrap look, and if wrapping gifts is just not your thing … Feel free to reach out to secure our services for next year’s holidays or any time you are feeling a bit like giving.

We feel extremely fortunate that this year one of our clients allowed us to take our gift wrap service to the next level. Not only did we get to select wrapping paper, ribbon, custom tags, and an overall cohesive look for the wrapping of several of her gift needs but we also curated the gifts themselves. Each grouping of gifts has its own look and purpose, but overall we created one look that tied them all together. Keep reading to see what I mean as well as get a few designer tips along the way!

Our overall look stayed within the following color scheme; green, black, white, and burlap. We threw in bits of plaid too! I am obsessed with these farmer’s market totes by Rachel Miriam (from the AliXRM collection) that our client is excited to bring with when attending holiday parties as a gift for the host. The personalization on each bag makes it that much more special … We chose “I’m organic” and “I love weekends” because the true LA farmer’s market regulars can totally relate! A large plaid bow, a bit of dried eucalyptus, and a custom family tag (created by Bo Jack Studios) makes this bag feel like a true gift.

What’s inside? Only the best farmer’s market finds; a bottle of champagne, yummy crackers, dried dates and ginger, sun dried tomato bruschetta, fig jam, and an adorable pad to write down all of your shopping needs. Each party host will love to snack on these items or take them out the next time they are hosting guests in their home.

These gorgeous MollyXRM totes were personalized for each of our client’s kid’s teachers and “wrapped” in the same way! You don’t really need to put a gift in a box when it looks this good. Just tie on a beautiful bow and make sure to include something that says who it is from.

When hosting at home, providing your guests with refreshments and activities is really top of the list. Want to take it one step further? Give a little party gift … Who doesn’t love gifts this time of year? These boxes were wrapped with care (and a lot of green plaid wrapping paper) and topped with a couple of candy canes and a big black bow for each of our client’s daughter’s friends that she invited to her own holiday party.

What’s inside? An adorable personalized black and white Santa hat for each guest to wear and get in the holiday spirit. Oh, what fun!

A bit of plaid ribbon (used in a different way), silver bells, and some burlap string made these baby gifts extra festive. What’s inside? Baby onesies embroidered with their company logo. What a great gift for employees who are expecting!

Ok, so I didn’t mention shades of pink in my list of colors we included in our gift wrap this year, but when hosting an all girls lunch it is hard to not make party favors extra girly! We cannot thank our fabulous client enough for planning a party at Blue Plate Taco and inviting us as her guests! We are such lucky girls! We did, however, help with the gifts … A black leather cosmetic bag personalized in ombre (shades of pink) to say “Naughty and Nice” and wrapped with a green satin / sparkly bow, more dried eucalyptus, and bells.

What’s inside? Lord Jones CBD products and a few other goodies … I guess she was feeling a bit more naughty than nice but then again, why not?

This holiday season, all of my gift wrap dreams have come true! I absolutely love how each of these gifts turned out from the wrapping to what’s inside and know that each recipient will be super grateful! I love the holidays! It’s a time for family and friends to get together, for exchanging of gifts, for decorating your home in the most festive ways, for hopefully getting a little time off to relax before the new year, and of course … for company parties! I can’t think of a better way for employers to show their staff that they appreciate them than to host a party (small or big) with tasty food and drinks and time to all be together outside of work. This past weekend, we planned an at-home company party that really encompassed all of these things. Check out all of the details!

Festive decorations? We kept it simple but super festive incorporating live eucalyptus garland created by Mulberry Row in all areas of the home (where the party took place starting with this entry console), small strands of twinkle lights, and lit candles for ambiance.

Delicious food and drinks? You can’t have a party without it! We set up their formal dining room to house a station of really yummy food and an adorable farmhouse bar rented from Signature Party Rentals.

Here’s another look at that gorgeous garland atop a gray linen table runner. Love this simplicity!

Many guests frequented this bar and were excited to try the signature Paloma cocktail and Lemon Drop shots our bartender whipped up. I personally love the details best … Pinecones and sprigs of eucalyptus, cute cocktail napkins, and black bar glasses to match the party’s decor.

The living room was another space we used for this particular party. It was a great place for guests to mingle and to watch a special show put on by mentalist Riccardo Berdini later in the night.

I love the way this garland looked wrapped around the already existing accessories in our host’s home. It really fit right in and gave a festive holiday feel.

We incorporated candles and pinecones in all trays and decorative dishes too. Oh what fun!

Company swag? We had that too! Each employee (and their significant other) got to take home a special tote bag with the company’s logo filled with swag … T-shirts, hoodies, and eco friendly water bottles created by Invite Amy, and softer than soft Rachel Miriam throw blankets embroidered with the company logo as well.

Did I mention delicious food? The cuisine at this party was seriously next level starting with tray passed appetizers including Jon and Vinny’s signature mozzarella sticks and so many other yummy things catered by Carmelized Productions.

A “Jon and Vinny’s” station was set up with more signature dishes including their gem lettuce with parmesan and bread crumb salad, pastas (The fusilli was insane!), delicious garlic bread …

… and those meatballs though! We can’t wait to work with this amazing catering company again!

For dessert? Tray passed strawberry cheesecake squares and chocolate fudge brownies! Is your mouth watering yet? This hamburger is not made of meat but rather ice cream! An action station was set up to give guests a taste of this delicious dessert as well!

Guests didn’t seem to want to wander back into this back bar area of the house, but its beautiful garland detail will not go to waste! I hear another party is happening here again this coming weekend!

We couldn’t be happier with how this company party came together and hope that each employee feels as appreciated as we do by these dream clients! Keep checking back … We have so much more fun holiday decor, gift wrap, and events to share in the next coming weeks! Happy Holidays from Side by Side Design!
