It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This countdown! 12 months … and counting until the big Bat Mitzvah weekend we are planning! As there are so many awesome details in the works, we thought it would be fun to check in monthly to update you on what’s happening in the planning process … Starting with we booked a venue! In the next year, Viceroy Santa Monica will be undergoing a major renovation / remodel, we will be booking all of the amazing vendors it takes to pull off three days packed full of events, and every detail will be thoroughly thought through and planned. Stay tuned! (Written by: Tami)

#2: This fabulous location! This month we were hired by our awesome client to help her design and fully furnish her new home in Vail, Colorado! To say we are excited is a complete understatement, and the idea of creating the most amazing bunk room is a dream come true. Can you believe the client and I both picked this photo to add to our inspiration completely at random? It was meant to be! Don’t worry we will be sharing all of the details soon. (Written by: Lauren)

#3: This birthday party! I should mention that numbers 1 – 3 are all for the same client … Sometimes you get so inspired and love what you are working on so much it doesn’t even feel like work. This is the case with the events and interior projects this particular client has been throwing our way. Our next event is a birthday party for her twelve year old girl. It has a super fun theme and what girl doesn’t need a pink mocktail with rock candy in her life? Right!? Check back in November for all of the details. (Written by: Tami)

#4: This vendor! I have been working closely with Visionnaire to come up with the right pieces to fill my client’s Modern Elegance Home. I really enjoy working with their team, and their products really are top notch. No wonder they are one of the leaders in high end Italian furnishings. Today I attended an intimate designer breakfast at an amazing house they furnished in Beverly Hills … I love what I do! (Written by: Lauren)

#5: This tradition! When we were both attending Arizona State University we used to go to family friends for the Jewish high holidays. They introduced us to breakfast for breaking the Yom Kippur fast, and it just makes so much sense! Since then we have convinced our family to do the same, and this is the first year that I actually hosted some friends in my home. I created a breakfast spread that I hope would make our Arizona friends proud. (Written by: Lauren)

Follow us on Instagram @sidebysidedesign for more all month long as we share our Designer Day! We plan to share our “Favorite Five” for the month of November on the 29th, and as always will be sharing what’s inspiring us for the month ahead on the first Friday. See ya soon!

Halloween is our absolute favorite time of year to decorate our living spaces. We both love to add festive touches into our existing decor. Here is a look at what we did last Halloween! In preparing to decorate this year, we once again realized just how truly busy we are and had time to purchase just a few new items, dusted off some of our old favorites, and came up with new (but quick) overall looks. Here’s a peek at how each of us used our different styles to create the right look for our homes and what we have goin’ on this Halloween.

T Side: Being the mom of one little girl and another on the way gives me exactly the excuse I need to do things super girly! I included fluffy florals, ruffles, and pink plaid in my decor, and I don’t regret this decision one bit! My tablescape turned out super cute … I can’t wait to have our Halloween guests over!

Plenty of pumpkins mixed with silk peonies makes for the perfect table runner this year.

A new textured table cloth and paper goods with a fun pattern … I really didn’t have to make big purchases to change up the look of my space for fall.

Here’s a preview of my treats I am making for Halloween night. Ghost Peeps, gummy brains, and other sours will make these skewers so much fun!

L Side: We have been so busy here at Side by Side Design, that I almost haven’t had time to do much preparing for Halloween. My girls have almost gotten more into the spirit of the holiday picking out pumpkins at one of our early October trips to Trader Joe’s and changing up their costume ideas of what they want to be most days. Earlier this week, they were all home as a last attempt to kick whatever bug was going around my house, and I decided to do something fun to lighten the mood. I set up a little Halloween surprise which really made their day.

I set up their play table (party of three) and added some spider webs to our fireplace to keep up for the rest of the month.

I couldn’t resist these adorable party plates and napkins and added some other fun details I had lying around.

My girls loved the set up, and Ava was quick to notice the pillows I “borrowed” from her room, saying “It’s ok Mommy … I know you like things to match”.

Sometimes it’s just fun to eat lunch at a party for no reason!

I even made a little dessert tray to finish it off.

As you can see, we each have our own style when it comes to decorating, but we also love to see what each other comes up with. Halloween lends itself to millions of different directions you can go. What is your plan this year? We can’t wait to hear how you decorate your space for Halloween, and of course (as we are very visual gals) we would love to see photos as well. Send them our way!

Recently, we teamed up with Twenty8 Creative to make improvements to our Instagram feed, and we are beyond excited! Admittedly, we are not all that in the know about the “algorithm” or the best apps to use to share our creative talent with our followers, so thankfully our girl Sharon is teaching us a thing or two (or tons) about Instagram.

One thing that came to our attention is that if you are a new follower of either our Instagram or this blog (or both), you may see us mention some of our regular features (such as our monthly “Get Inspired” posts), but not necessarily know what they are. We thought we would share a small description in our highlights (on IG) and on this post to help clear all of that up. We hope you will join us weekly and monthly to share in these special features!

Check out our most recent #inspo post (Get Inspired: October) to share in what is inspiring us this month and to get some really fun designer tips! In case you are looking for more … This feature goes up live on the blog every first Friday of the month!

Our shopping list follows the first “Get Inspired” monthly post (usually seen each second Friday of the month) and is a more specific list of items you can purchase from the overall mood boards we create. Last week, we shared ten items to use in your interior and event space in our Get Inspired: Culture and Custom post.

“Designer Days” are created exclusively to be featured on our IG stories. This can be found weekly (but the day we choose each week is a surprise)! You will have to check in on us on IG @sidebysidedesign to share in the fun!

We cannot express our gratitude enough to Twenty8 Creative for taking our grid to the next level and being great teachers to us in the world of social media. If you are looking for someone to collaborate with in this area, we cannot give a higher recommendation!

It’s the most spooky time of the year! We absolutely love decorating for the fall holidays in our own homes and have been blessed in the past with projects that take this concept to the next level! Today, we wanted to take a little trip down memory lane to our biggest Halloween project yet and show you some of our favorite photos.

Don’t you just love this spooky ticket booth from our Haunted Circus themed year? These props from LA Circus were spectacular and helped to create the most festive yet spooky scene.

Living in LaLa Land is the perfect excuse to use this theme in your holiday decor. This Haunted Hollywood scene was complete with eight foot letters spelling out the city’s name, red carpet, and movie theater seats in front of a big screen playing an actual movie … So fun!

This haunted pirates theme was not only fun for trick or treaters to enjoy, but there was a whole party planned in its honor! Treasure chests were overflowing and everyone had arrrrgh really good time!

We have been known to bring in gorgeous displays of live flowers and plants to the events we throw, but here is an example of a live “statue” we hired for this Haunted Toga Party. We love surprising guests with new layers of Halloween fun!

This scene and coordinating party was in honor of the Wild Wicked West! Oh what fun it was to see it all come together from the three hundred bales of hay we brought in to the delicious BBQ cuisine!

I know Halloween is just around the corner, so you have probably already planned out your decor, but it is not too late to book for Thanksgiving or our winter holiday services! To get more information or put an upcoming date in the books, contact us at

By taking one of the looks from our Get Inspired: October boards, we are providing our readers with further information for where to purchase similar items with a range of price points (from super affordable to fancy and one of a kind).
