It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This home update! On Wednesday, we posted about this Modern Elegance Home and the furniture that has come in so far from Visionnaire. These sofas came in too, and they are to die for! We are working on the details for the rest of the room, but just thought I’d share! (Written by: Lauren)

#2: This fall fete! Tonight we start our fall festivities with a really fun cocktail party (or Fall Fete). We can’t wait to see all of the decor elements we have planned come together including this gorgeous linen pattern from La Tavola Linens! We are busy booking events for the upcoming months and have some space available. Contact us for more information! (Written by: Tami)

#3: This gorgeous light fixture! It got installed this week in our client’s ultra modern home and we are loving the composition and working with a new amazing custom company out of Italy. (Written by: Lauren)

#4: This vendor! Our soon to be sister in law has started her own custom sweets + treats company, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her create so many fun themed cookies, cakes, and other treats for our upcoming events! Head over to @creamplussugar on IG to see more beautiful photos of her work and order your own custom treats today! (Written by: Tami)

#5: This playground project! I have been working on the new playground for my kid’s school for some time now, and we are starting to get closer and closer to bringing it to life. We presented the design at Back to School Night this week, and I feel energized by the feedback we have been getting! I can’t wait to see it come together. (Written by: Lauren)

Follow us on Instagram @sidebysidedesign for more all month long as we share our Designer Day! We plan to share our “Favorite Five” for the month of October on the 25th, and as always will be sharing what’s inspiring us for the month ahead on the first Friday. See ya soon!

Things are moving right along in my client’s Modern Elegance home, and we are finally starting to see things come together. The first load of furniture has finally arrived from Italy and the next few are set to arrive in the next few weeks. It’s pretty amazing seeing all of the hard work and visions coming to life. Today I want to share with you what we have so far in this formal living room. It’s still a work in progress but far enough along to share.

Before

This room and its views really do stand on their own and are tough to beat! I don’t want to do too much to distract from its beauty but feel like the right pieces will dress it up just enough to enhance it.

In Process

All of the large pieces of furniture have been ordered from Visionnaire and are slowly arriving. For this space, I am letting the room evolve as we go and see where it takes us. For now, the pieces stand for themselves and don’t fight with the gorgeous view, but we will see if it needs more when all of the furniture is in place.

Living Room Inspiration

Here are all the pieces we have on order. My client’s favorite marble (Sahara Noir) will be mixed into some of the pieces to tie it all together, and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

Each event we have planned lately has been absolutely unique and for clients we truly are so lucky to have found. We wouldn’t have it any other way! We thrive off of coming up with new concepts and planning each detail to make the event truly one of a kind. This particular at-home party we helped plan a few weeks ago, was for a very special couple. Their daughters got together to prepare a celebration of fifty years together that fit their parent’s personalities and relationship just right.

The first thing they requested was to have a relaxed evening where guests could come and mingle and celebrate their parent’s marriage. We set up a small cocktail hour with a delicious spread of cheeses, meats, and other fun mediterranean inspired snacks. The bar was stocked and our hostess’ husband took his job as bartender very seriously!

Gold metallic balloons and fun fifties on sticks announced the special anniversary they were celebrating.

It’s always fun to have photos at these types of events to throw back to that special day. This sign in board will be a nice keepsake as well!

Photos on each of the tables also showcased special moments from their wedding day.

Table and chair rentals from Signature Party Rentals gave ample space for all guests to find a seat. We went for a garden look with these wood chairs meets a more formal setting with all black linens.

These flower arrangements created by Mulberry Row were stunning! We love the contrast of the all white flowers and greenery on the black tablecloths as well as the garden look they each have.

One more formal touch … Gold chargers for a golden anniversary!

Persian meats were set up buffet style as well as so many delicious salads and sides catered by Red Fish Kitchen. We plated each to perfection in matching white dishes! What a spread!

As each guest brought their dinner to their seat, they were greeted by a glass of champagne. A special toast was made and several speeches sharing so much love for this couple and their fifty years together.

For dessert, the hostesses went all out! A chocolate fountain with all kinds of fruit and other dipping treats were a huge hit so was this magnificent cake made by our girl Ashlee at cream+sugar!

As a take home special treat, Ashlee also created gold fifty shaped cookies with custom stickers. Wrapped to perfection and so yummy too!

We are so grateful to have been a part of this special occasion! Shout out to Michelle and Tara for being so fun to plan Side by Side with and a very Happy Anniversary to their parents, Bernie and Jerry!

Last weekend, we helped to put together a really fun themed birthday party for an extremely amazing four year old! A guy who loves to camp! We included a lot of plaid, a little camouflage, and lots of love in the details … Check it out!

Craft paper and buffalo plaid runners transformed these kids tables into a cute camping lunch area. The centerpieces consisted of bright orange lanterns, lots of balloons, and s’mores trail mix that all of their guests truly enjoyed!

Parents need a place to lounge too!

This mama’s workshop (aka Rachel Miriam Headquarters) was transformed into all things food and drink. This adorable sign set the tone!

Sandwiches, pigs in blankets, salads, and more … What else do you need when camping? Wooden crates and lots of white trays made our food display extra special.

So did these handmade food tags in the party’s color scheme.

The kids had so much fun picnic-ing on the grass (on RM personalized blankets), building a fire (Don’t worry, it wasn’t real!), taking turns in cute cammo tents, and being led through a lot of fun activities by Happily Ever Laughter.

This camping themed cake (created by cream+sugar) was a true show stopper and was filled with delicious layers of s’mores inside!

This fourth birthday party was so much fun and was a true collaboration between his mom and us! We loved getting to be a part of all the details and helping to make sure it all ran smoothly. Happy 4th Birthday Graham!
