It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This gorgeous powder bathroom! The finishing touches are being set for this amazing room. The crystal sconces got hung this week, and we are just about done. It was too gorgeous not to share one snapshot, but I will be showing it in detail as soon as it is completely ready. (Written by: Lauren)

#2: This WEHO venue! If you are following our IG stories, you might have seen that we have been scouting West Hollywood locations for an upcoming party we are planning. We are so excited that the venue search is over and Eveleigh has been selected! This space is chill while still right in the action off the Sunset Strip. It will be the perfect spot for two awesome guys to celebrate their 50th year! Stay tuned for more from this event coming soon … (Written by: Tami)

#3: This cool table! We ordered this awesome acrylic backgammon table from Interlude at HD Buttercup, and love how modern and chic it is in our client’s space. We added mother of pearl playing pieces in navy and ivory and these gorgeous chairs from Restoration Hardware to finish off this vignette. My client is loving it! (Written by: Lauren)

#4: This vendor! This past week, we had the opportunity to work with an awesome caterer for two full days! Two breakfasts, two lunches, and two delicious afternoon snacks … Thyme Cafe and Market truly did not disappoint! We loved everything they made, our clients were super happy, and we loved working with their amazing staff even more! (Written by: Tami)

#5: This Father’s Day BBQ! We wanted to do something special for the dads in our lives this month, so I decided to host a Father’s Day BBQ! I made this amazing cheese board with some of their favorites and the guys grilled up all the meat. Hope all the fathers out there had a really special day! (Written by: Lauren)

Each year, my daughter Ava gets more and more invested in planning her birthday party, and this year was no exception. She had very specific details she wanted included, and I did my best to follow her lead. Ava went back and forth on the theme for a while but for some reason kept coming back to super heroes, and when Tami suggested to her that we nickname it “Super Six” it totally stuck! She knew she wanted Super Girl to be there, was very clear about the main colors of the party being pink, purple, turquoise, yellow, and orange, and there must be a cake! I started with that, added in some fun metallic and black details, and ended up with a party that was fun, girly, and empowering too!

Ava insisted on greeting each of her guests upon their arrival and asked each one to sign in as well.

We thought it would be fun to put up a little photo backdrop and have some props to capture all of the super girls in attendance.

Here’s my “Super Six” year old in action …

… and our whole super family!

Not a completely original idea, but I liked the idea of adding festive “pop” stickers to popcorn boxes and decided to make them easy to take home or eat on the spot.

I used the same tinsel backdrop as the photo booth to continue my look behind this snack table, but added this fun corrugated cityscape for an extra layer and a few super hero sayings for one more touch.

This cake though was the true show stopper, and I can’t take any credit for it! My soon to be sister-in-law from cream+sugar created it all on her own, and it couldn’t be more perfect!

A few more snacks (Ava’s favorites) to get the party going.

I had extra of the city scape backdrop, so I propped it up behind the kid’s table and added a turquoise tablecloth per Ava’s request and these fun hot pink glitter plates I found at Party City for a festive touch.

My friend Rachel Miriam embroidered each of these capes to hand out as party favors for each of the girls, but I used them as decor first and got tons of compliments on this detail!

A few more snacks were put out at the beginning of the party, and I put a little saying with the donut holes for a bit of humor.

When it was time for lunch, Fresh Brothers delivered an awesome spread with great options for kids and adults alike.

Super Girl came for some fun super hero training for the kids and Ava was over the moon!

We all wished Ava a very Happy Birthday …

… and then cut into the cake to find a special surprise!

Are you kidding me? Ashlee outdid herself!

Happy 6th Birthday Ava! I love you so much and enjoyed working with you to plan out your party. You are my favorite Super Girl! Every year, she surprises me in saying that it was her best birthday ever. I don’t know how we can keep this going forever, but I will definitely try! Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next year!

In our Pining For Pinterest posts, we prepare our readers for the upcoming season with interior shots alongside decor and event details in a fresh, new color story and overall look. As California girls (born and raised), we absolutely love the sunshine! So, you can imagine, we are very excited that it is officially the sunniest time of year. Even the June gloom seems to be finally going away! It’s time to do what we love best … Dine and entertain outdoors! Please enjoy as we take you through our inspiration for two totally different Summer events in our own distinct styles.

Tami’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? Turquoise tones! This Mama-to-Be loves this color and uses it in all areas of her home … Why wouldn’t her baby shower reflect this love as well? I picture this party taking place indoors with a cafe style lunch set up for all of her girls, and then being moved poolside to admire an amazing sunny area filled with more turquoise balloons than are necessary and even more gifts to shower the new mama too!

I told you her home was fun, right?

A few cafe style tables will set the tone for having lunch in this space. What else sets the tone? Tons of turquoise!

I just can’t with the display of balloons in this pool. So cool!

Mama knew just what to wear!

Start with a cup of tea or freshly brewed coffee.

An after lunch snack is in order …

… and why not send your guests home with something sweet?

Lauren’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? Pink and pampas grass! Have a Summer birthday? Who cares! You don’t really need to have a reason to get your girls together! So even if you’re not celebrating something special … Summer is the time to entertain! This inspiration is the perfect picture of what you’ll want to do … Layer flowers with vases full of pampas grass down a uniquely set table and your friends will not soon forget this gorgeous scene. Provide delectable appetizers, dinner selections, and fresh Summer-y drinks too!

I mean … Pink Velvet Couch!

This table set up is everything! From the flowers, to the gorgeous goblets, to the china perfection (Oh yeah, did I mention how much I love the pampas grass?) …

… To this insane dinnerware from Casa de Perrin!

This party hostess loves pretty things, and makes sure to even make the space she is getting ready in remind her of what she is planning.

Her pink party dress … Oh so pretty!

Summer-y signature cocktails are a perfect fit for this soiree …

… and so is shrimp cocktail!

This Summer is our busiest yet, and we are so excited to continue bringing the events “Side” of our business to the next level. We look forward to all that is coming up this season and hopefully using some of this inspiration in our own planning. We would love to work with you in creating the right look this Summer by tying in the inspiration of your event with the essence of your home decor. Contact us at info@sbsdesignla.com for more information.

For anyone who has been following along with us for a while now, you have certainly heard us talk about our Modern With Antiques Home that we have been working on with our amazing clients for over two years. Yes, you heard that right! It’s been a loooong time! Somewhat due to obstacles that have been out of our control and in part because these particular clients sees the value in making sure that every detail is completed with utmost care, attention to detail, and is thought through to the best of our ability. For me, I appreciate the level of detail I am able to put in when a client is this thorough, and it just makes it that much more exciting for me when I get to see any kind of progress taking place. I thought it would be fun to give you some updates today as things are really starting to come together in their completed form, and we even have an end in sight. The client gave notice for their temporary apartment this week and plan to start moving in next month! It’s going to be a busy month to make this happen, but we have been preparing for this and are beyond excited!

The overall design for this powder bathroom has stayed the same since the very beginning (as seen in our previous post, Under Construction: Modern With Antiques Powder Bathroom). Which makes it that much more exciting to see it almost complete! The toilet and sconces go in this week, and then we will just have finishing touches to make. It is a simple design with very intricate details, but every last seam in this amazing marble was thought through and planned to perfection!

We are still in awe over the transformation of this kitchen (before photos seen in our previous post, Under Construction: Modern With Antiques Kitchen)! When we decided to remove the ceiling to give ourselves just a bit more space, we never imagined what we would discover. We were able to change the plan, and we got amazing space out of it. You now no longer feel like you are walking into a closed kitchen. It feels open and inviting just like we had wished.

In addition, the appliances in this space are on another level! We went back and forth on this stainless and gold La Cornue stove (although I was rooting for it all along) and the silver leaf cabinetry compliments it perfectly!

I have mentioned it before, but this fireplace is virtually the only design element in this house we left alone. It was just too perfect, but the crisp, white walls really do give it new life and an overall modern yet elegant feel.

This cozy sitting room doesn’t look like much yet, but this dramatic sconce will be paired with an amazing navy velvet sofa and the most stunning artwork.

This room is my client’s media room. My faux painter will be there this week starting up a specialty finish on this ceiling, and the upholsterer will be there after that to upholster the walls in a gorgeous suede to match. This room is bound to be dramatic (no pun intended)!

Who wouldn’t want to get dressed in this amazing closet? All of the structural details are complete which means we have the fun stuff left to do! We are picturing two rectangular benches in some over the top fabric to compliment the art they have for that back wall, and I can picture a flokati runner underneath for an extra touch of glam.

Here’s a peak into their master bathroom (more details in our previous post, Under Construction: Modern With Antiques Master Bathroom Update). This marble is one of my favorite things in this house, and the way that it wraps from wall to wall was no easy feat!

The master bedroom has an adorable loft which was another selling feature for this home. The gold stair railing that we installed in this space is pretty magnificent, but the teal shag carpet that will be going up these stairs is truly something else!

I think you can see now why I just couldn’t wait to share some of these amazing details with you! I am proud of all of the work we have done so far and am excited to see all of the dreams we have for this space coming to life. As I know that each detail will continue to be important, it may take a little time to get the finished spaces up on our blog with all of the right accessories, etc. so hopefully this will tide you over for now. Keep checking back in!
