It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: These designers! When I get the chance to be in a space where multiple well-known interior designers, event planners, and florists share their work, why wouldn’t I take it! I absolutely love seeing what others create and getting inspired by their creations. Must be why I chose the design path so long ago. Tami and I were privileged to work for our friend Rachel Miriam at the Robinson’s Garden event earlier this month and were able to walk through the installation and witness the beautiful event that took place there. What a special day! (Written by: Lauren)

#2: This happy couple! My husband Phil’s parents just recently celebrated their fortieth year as a married couple, and I got the opportunity to help bring all of their special details together at a gathering with all their family and friends. I love how these adorable Minted name cards look with the flower arrangements I created! It’s crazy how much this photo of his dad looks like my hubby, and I hope after forty years together we are just as happy as they are! (Written by: Tami)

#3: This installation! This month has been super event heavy which has been keeping me busy while I have been waiting for so many pieces of furniture to come out of production for all of my interior projects. When I finally got the call that this gorgeous Hudson table was ready for delivery, I quickly scheduled all of the pieces that go with it to be installed at the same time. This room is not completely finished, but we are almost there. Once I put the finishing touches on, I will be sure to share some awesome photos! (Written by: Lauren)

#4: This vendor! You may remember these gorgeous shrimp ceviche appetizers from our Rosè Mom’s Day Lunch post. They are true works of art created by a caterer we love working with, Modern Art Catering! We honestly can’t wait for the next opportunity to work with them again and sample all that they have to offer! (Written by: Tami)

#5: This Bat Mitzvah weekend! Every once in a while you come across a perfect client or a perfect concept for an event. The Bat Mitzvah we just started working on has both! We can’t say much yet (as we don’t want to give our ideas away), but we can say that the theme was picked, and it is oh so sweet! Get ready for us to take you along for the ride of planning this awesome event weekend, working with so many of our favorite vendors, and really getting a chance to be extra creative! I have been talking for a while now about a special project I have been working on (as last seen in our post, Modern Elegance Master Closet Inspiration). We have been working out the details of several rooms at a time and slowly buying furniture along the way. The concept for the bar lounge is really starting to come together, and I thought it would be fun to share the inspiration with all of you, Of course, things are bound to change throughout the process, but here is where we are to date.

My client was unsure as to how he wanted to use this space originally. He liked the idea of incorporating a wine cellar wall and bar but didn’t know if he wanted to use the rest of the space for more informal relaxing and TV watching or more formal lounge type furniture. As I tend to see spaces through their functionality (and more specifically how they work in event spaces), I was drawn to the idea of creating a bar lounge where his guests would start the evening and hang out enjoying cocktails and appetizers.

Our vision for this side of the room is to use the left wall for wine storage and the right wall as a bar. I want to give this whole space one cohesive look where the cabinetry wraps from one side to the other.

This room can be completely closed off from the rest of the house, and can therefore have a unique design while still staying true to the overall concept we are going for.

Here is where we plan to put the lounge furniture. Those draperies have since been removed, and I plan to give this space a bit of a sexy and mysterious vibe.

In Process

This is the layout we are planning for the furniture. Functional yet unique!

I absolutely love this sofa from Cantoni at Mass Furniture. This incredible color will really pop in the space and bring my whole vision to life.

Bar Lounge Inspiration

This gives a complete visual of the overall look we are going for. I like the idea of the space feeling a little bit like a club and a little bit like a home library with a swanky vibe.

I think from the beginning, the bar lounge has been one of the spaces my client and I have been the most drawn to and excited about. We are absolutely in love with the color and shape of these sofas, and can’t wait to see this room take shape. I am hoping to finalize the details of this room in the next couple of weeks and will keep you guys updated. For more information about our design services, contact us at info@sbsdesignla.com.

We couldn’t have been more happy to have been a part of the Jewish Center for Justice’s two year anniversary celebration. They are a modern platform for an amazing cause (Click here to read more about the JCJ) and wanted to celebrate in a very fun and modern way. We loved getting to dream up what the look and feel of their event would entail and loved even more working closely with their amazing staff. Here are the details from how the night came together:

The event was hosted by two of our favorite business owners … The amazing women of bryck&mortar. What a perfect outdoor area to have a party! It really didn’t take much to transform this space and the surrounding area into a celebration. As it was evening, we brought in tons of candles and strung bistro lights. A few cocktail tables, succulents in glass vases, and navy blue linens everywhere finished off the look.

As I mentioned, this was a night of celebration. Guests got a chance to mingle, network, and let’s be honest … Have a nice night away from their kids! However, advocacy for great Jewish causes took place too! Of course!

When we met with the leader of JCJ (Rabbi Joel Simonds) to discuss the details of their event, he mentioned wanting to put a modern spin on this party. It was very important to him to include wine and whiskey tastings and other classy but fun activities for their guests. Wally’s Wines provided the exact experience Rabbi Joel was hoping for!

There was plenty of whiskey too! Japanese whiskey was chosen as the perfect pairing for the event’s food selections. We set up this little bar area for guests to pour themselves a taste and included some snacks here too.

Cocktail tables were set up for guests looking to put down their drink or grab a bite. A few candles were included for ambiance, a bowl of snacks was added to each, and some informational flyers about the cause.

This sushi was so good and provided the perfect small bite for guests as they mingled and shopped.

Other options included an entire table devoted to delicious cheeses, crudite, fruit, and biscotti.

Another amazing addition to the ambiance was Jessica Haddy. Our violinist for the evening. I think guests enjoyed realizing that the songs she was playing, although they sounded different coming from a violin, were very familiar!

In addition to the two vendors (Panik Ryder and Wilma and Ethel) who are being featured at bryck&mortar all month long, there were two shopping experiences (Bodewell Home and Eye Heart Mercantile) that were brought in for the evening. Guests were encouraged to shop for a cause. A part of all the proceeds from the evening were donated to the JCJ!

This JCJ step and repeat provided the opportunity for all its members to post about attending this awesome event!

JCJ swag bags were given out as guests said good-bye.

We truly could not be happier about being part of this community and this amazing cause. Thank you Rabbi Joel and everyone involved in the Jewish Center for Justice for including us! We hope to continue to be able to give in any way we can! If you are interested in joining the JCJ community or giving to this amazing cause follow them @jewishcenterforjustice to connect and learn more.
