As you all know, I have been working on this Modern With Antiques home for quite a while now. We have been taking our time to make sure that each and every detail turns out perfect, and things are really starting to take shape. The first coat of white primer has been applied on all of the fresh smooth walls and has created the perfect blank canvas for all of the ideas we have put so much time into. The next (and almost final) room to tour in the Under Construction portion of this series is the master closet, and I am finally ready to share it with all of you.

There was nothing really wrong with the existing closet. The fact that the previous owners had turned this bedroom into a walk-in closet alone was actually pretty awesome and helped us to envision doing the same, but we felt that it wasn’t quite perfect enough or fit my clients exact needs enough to simply leave as is.

In Process

Once the room and all of the cabinetry had been demoed, we had a blank slate to do what they really wanted. Fresh drywall was installed, the existing patio door was properly concealed, and the lighting reworked. It will get the same wood flooring as the rest of the unit and brand new cabinetry and accessories.

Walk-in Closet Inspiration

This main inspiration photo with the white walls of mirrored cabinetry has been a constant the entire time, and we have never strayed. The clean lines, the all white facade, and the gorgeous mirrored doors will make this closet look like a dream. Another design element we wanted to include all along is a reflective white ceiling to make the space look like it continues on and on forever. Other than that, we will be including a built-in dresser at the back of the closet with some sort of gorgeous art above and a beautiful bench to give my clients a place to sit. The design is simple yet stunning!

Please follow along as we continue to work on this dream project! We will conclude the Under Construction portion of this series with a look at their formal dining room soon. For more information on our design services email us at info@sbsdesignla.com.

We are so excited to once again share our monthly inspiration with all of you! Each month, we look forward to getting the chance to sit down and really think about what’s inspiring us, make predictions for the month ahead, and reflect on the past month. As usual, we have each selected a photo that represents our overall inspiration and have paired it with two interior shots and two events that coordinate with its color scheme and overall concept. In addition, we have provided you with our designer tips to keep you on trend for the month ahead.

Tami’s inspired: This month is always a really exciting one for Lauren and I as it is the time we celebrate the birthday of our gorgeous blog (Yada yada yada … You’ve all heard the story of how I convinced Lauren the day she returned from her honeymoon). 7 years! Wow! A lot of people correlate the seventh year with a sort of slump-like behavior, but I believe we are going in the opposite direction. Just like this bright and bold inspiration party picture, Side by Side Design will be celebrating seven years with a push … Time to step it up!

What’s my designer tip this month? Give your design a burst of energy! It’s Summer and time to celebrate … This is no time to get into a slump. Add bright pops of color and pattern into your home and event decor, use various textures in party signage and pillow fabrics, and above all else make a statement!

Lauren’s inspired: Copper and wool are the recommended gifts for the seventh anniversary. July is a special month for me as I get to celebrate my own anniversary (I can’t believe it’s been seven years!) as well as the anniversary of our beloved blog. I love how they incorporated these two materials in these funky bracelets and have been loving using these opposites in various interiors as well. I’m looking forward to celebrating these milestones this month and looking for ways to incorporate a little more wool and copper into my life.

What’s my designer tip this month? Combine the unexpected! Copper and wool seems like it would be a contradiction, but the thick texture mixed with the bright metallic really compliment each other nicely. I found each of these photos to have the same type of concept. A slate gray pillow on an all blush bed gives a touch of masculinity where there once was none, a sharp succulent on a very shiny smooth copper table seems so wrong but looks so right, paper plates in a formal setting I would never recommend however this photo might just change my mind, and an intricate fig in a cool crisp cocktail screams summer.

Here at Side by Side Design, we look forward to an exciting month full of well planned out blog posts (Check us out each week on Wednesdays and Fridays!). We plan to showcase some really awesome interiors, a look at Lauren’s copper and wool gift list, a celebration of seven years of blogging, and more! Don’t forget to check out our next Get Inspired post on August 3rd for all new looks and inspiration!
