In our Pining For Pinterest posts, we prepare our readers for the upcoming season with interior shots alongside decor and event details in a fresh, new color story and overall look. We don’t know about you, but we are so excited for the beginning of Summer (and as today is Memorial Day, we consider this to be the real start of the season) … fruity drinks and sun-kissed skin here we come! Please enjoy as we take you through our inspiration for two totally different Summer events in our own distinct styles.

Tami’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? Amethyst and ivory! Summer (sigh) … Wedding season is upon us! I love this time of year! As my mind is very one track at the moment, I put together inspiration for a beautiful and posh at-home wedding in a stunning color story. It’s soft, fresh, and fabulous!

Umm … This bouquet of blush roses is everything! So are the shades of amethyst that have been included into their home decor.

When planning an event at-home, it is super important for the look of the party to match that of the existing decor.

Bringing in gorgeous floral arrangements and custom tablecloths will make sure everyone knows that this is no ordinary day.

Each perfectly set table includes a plethora of candles and softer than soft florals.

The bridesmaids will love wearing these gorgeous dresses …

… almost as much as the Bride will love her new ring.

Some bubbly to celebrate the Bride and Groom …

… and this three-tiered beauty too!

Lace wrapped loveliness … Who cares what’s inside?

Lauren’s Pins: What’s “pin”spiring me this season? A Palm Beach pool party! I guess I have vacay on the brain this season! This would be a fun party to throw in a vacation rental way down South. You may have to bring quite a few decorative items in your suitcase, but it will be well worth it. Just picture sun, snacks, and tons of palm fronds!

A pink wall and a palm frond set the tone for the theme of this party.

Is this wallpaper not so perfect?

A matching window shade? Are you kidding me? If only all vacation rentals were this fab!

Pool floats are all the rage right now, so gotta have those! Also, don’t forget to bring your big-brimmed hats, over-sized (and tasseled) floor pillows, and lots of balloons.

Keep the party going all weekend long ! This can be your cute indoor breakfast set-up before heading out to the pool each day.

Palm fronds and pink balloons!

Lovin’ how this hostess dressed the part!

A delicious tuna sashimi appetizer is enjoyed poolside …

… and a cake that matches the wallpaper. Simply fabulous!

As always, this Summer is super packed full of events, and we are so excited to see each vision come to life! We look forward to all that is coming up this season and hopefully using some of this inspiration in our own planning. We would love to work with you in creating the right look this Summer by tying in the inspiration of your event with the essence of your home decor. Contact us at for more information.

It’s the end of the month, and we are extremely grateful for all of the design challenges and experiences that have come our way. Today, we continue to show you some of our favorites … 5 things that truly made us happy in the great big world of design this month. This has proven to be a great way for us to share sneak peeks into projects that are in the works (but not quite ready to show in their entirety), flashbacks of projects from the past, and highlight an interior or event vendor that deserves recognition. Enjoy!

#1: This theme! If you have followed us for a while, you know that we have a Halloween event that we do every year and are extremely proud of. Check out last year’s Greek Mythology theme here. The thing that excites us the most is getting to come up with a brand new concept each year and incorporate it into even the smallest detail. We are not quite ready to reveal the theme just yet but wanted to tease you all a little with this inspiration photo and let you know that it is coming real soon to a blog near you!

#2: This backyard! Do you remember when we featured this Casual Cozy Living Room? Well, the client came back and asked us to consult on the design of their new backyard, and we were happy to do so! Can’t wait to see how it turns out, but in the meantime here is an inspiration photo to show you where we got some of our ideas.

#3: Their wedding! We are still obsessing over all of the details from Sasha and Mikey’s wedding, and now we get to experience it all over again thanks to Spin the Dial Productions. We know you will love this video clip just as much as we do. Also, coming in June … Not one but two posts describing this magical event. Can’t wait to get a hold of those photos!

#4: This vendor! We mentioned the incredible accessory company, Arteriors, several times in our Transitional Edge Home Tour. If you take a look at their website, you’ll see why we are so obsessed with their pieces. We just can’t get enough and plan to return to this vendor as often as possible in designing our client’s homes (and hopefully our own).

#5: This opportunity! This month, we got the chance to work on something truly special … We really wish that we could share the details, but we have been sworn to secrecy until it goes “live”. Here are the two things that we can share: #1: This photo was used as our inspiration for our attire during this big moment in our brand’s life, and #2: We were told that we will be able to share what is happening with all of you by the end of this month. We can’t wait!

Let us know what you think of this newer type of post … Simply click the number next to the speech bubble icon below to leave a comment. All feedback is welcome and will be taken very seriously. We plan to share our “Favorite Five” for the month of June on the 30th, and of course will be sharing what’s inspiring us for the month ahead on the first Friday of the month. See ya soon!

A while back, we shared inspiration photos for the work our dad and his wife Evon planned to do on their home. As per usual, your own project is always the last to get started when there are so many others in the works. That is true for this project as well. It may be last (but certainly not least) as this duo is really taking their time to perfect the process and create the updated home they desire.

Both the exterior and interior of this home have always been described by many as quaint but charming. They are creating fresh details to the exterior through this new door, additional windows, and replacing the paneling with a smooth stucco facade.

An interior view of some of the new windows and the entry door which brings in lots of sun into their cozy living room.

Evon decided early on that she wanted brick on this wall. They used a veneer to cover the space and already refinished the beam that centers it, but plan to have our faux finisher lighten the brick a bit for a softer effect.

The existing kitchen was given a fresh, new feel by incorporating a farmhouse sink …

… and painting the cabinetry in a bone hue. They plan to replace the countertop as well as the backsplash for a more crisp look.

There are many more things that our dad and Evon plan to do with this remodel from new paint, to new furniture, a new guest bathroom, and refinishing their existing wood floor to get rid of the yellow. It’s always fun when a husband and wife get to come together on a project that they ultimately will spend so much time in. We admire their excitement for their project and know that together they will create something amazing. We look forward to seeing the finished product (and of course helping them along the way). We will be sure to keep you updated with their progress too.

This week we got a unique opportunity! We took a few hours off of our normal work schedule to visit the Museum of Ice Cream! Not sure we would classify this fabulous establishment as a traditional “museum”, but more of a modern take on what a museum can be. In other words, we would describe it as an art installation with perfect opportunities to take amazing Insta-worthy photos around every corner. As designers, we truly appreciate every detail the creators of this museum put in from the wallpaper to the over-sized likenesses of all of our favorite treats and the fact that there were so many types of ice cream (as well as toppings, mochi, and some fabulous black cookie dough) to try. Each sample was a perfect fit to the design of the room we ate it in. Overall, we had so much fun experiencing this place from a design stand point and getting to spend time with Lauren’s three girls in such a fun girly environment. Now we know what you are thinking (if you live in LA) … How can I get tickets to see such fabulousness? You may have to be patient. We have heard that tickets are completely sold out until August or September. Sorry for this disappointing news! However, we feel it is our obligation to share as many fun filled photos as we can to provide a little taste until you are able to visit the museum yourselves. Enjoy!

We have been working hard over the past several months to perfect our photo taking skills, try all kinds of new angles, and to generally think creatively while making memories. The Museum of Ice Cream was a great place to practice and its overall colorful interior made even the most mundane of shots look incredible. We hope you like the photos we shared today, and that if you are not already that you will follow us on Instagram at sidebysidedesign! Have a sweet day!
